Wednesday was Electra's second date with Fox. He wore a white striped shirt and pretty nice jeans. She made it a point to check his teeth which were like perfect white pearls, and accidentally had a look at his crotch but couldn't draw any conclusions from it.
Things went well. Conversation was nice, they talked about their families and about his summer house on the coast and just about this and that. Again, he seemed to make an effort to avoid awkward silences and Electra found him a little hard to read. She couldn't tell whether he liked her or not (which of course he does, they all do), whereas she definitely liked him. Still, he seems quite "proper" and tidy and perhaps even mainstream, so that might be the catch? Or he might not be "proper", tidy and mainstream - it's too early to tell.
Their third date is tonight already. They are going to a comedy club this time.

Competition is tough for Fox at the moment though. Thursday night Electra had her first date with Popeye. They went to a bar and had some drinks and this is it:

He was cute, charming, more "troll-like" than in the photo (her words, I am not quite sure what it means. Come to think of it, she also said he reminded her of her grandfather...)
He was wearing wannabe-posh clothes but she could tell he was originally of - uhm, how should I phrase this - lower "social circumstances".
He looked at her a lot (and her cleavage) and asked her lots of questions. She told him she was also "dating" Fox, which he didn't seem too pleased to hear. Nice, white teeth. It was all very relaxing and fun, and he asked her why she is single, so she asked him the same. He said it's because he's picky, but she could tell he liked her.
He paid all her drinks, and just as she was about to order new ones, he said he was going to head home. This was at about 11pm, so he might be the sensible type.
All in all a good but short date, and she will definitely see him again. Perhaps on Sunday.

We've got ourselves a race.....

Ok, just to get it out of the way and to narrow down the number of names, I am announcing that Electra has finally sent Billy the official text message saying they're just too different and the physical distance is too big. So that's the end of Billy too.

There has been no contact with Malcolm since he left her bed. This is probably both due to him being embarrassed by his poor performance as well as Electra having opened her eyes to yet another suitor...
Let me introduce Fox:
-190 cm
-30 years old
-Teeth not noticed, i.e. probably not too bad
-IT engineer
-possibility of lacking "an edge" but the first seemingly normal person Electra has met through meet.com

They met on meet.com a while ago I believe. Communication was slow at first but then got a bit more intense after the whole Mark thing, and Saturday they decided to meet.
As Electra entered the bar, she saw a guy staring at her from a bar stool. He looked terrible and nothing like in the photos, so she hid behind a pole and called me for advice/share her frustration. Turns out, as soon as we hung up, she discovered the real Fox, who was surprisingly pleasant. He was well dressed and had the perfect height. Electra was confused as to why he would send her such bad photos of himself when in fact he looked this good!

Conversation went easily with a few minor breaks which they both immediately tried to fill with questions about each other. Since they talked so much, Electra is unsure of whether he is interesting and fun or if she was blinded by the efforts to keep conversation going, or whether he seemed so great because she was so relieved her date wasn't the horribly guy at the bar.
Fox almost seemed too perfect, too smooth…
What's the catch...?

They have another date tonight, maybe we'll know more tomorrow.

Yet another newcomer is Popeye:
-186 cm
-30 years old
-no tooth information to date
-imports tires...? or something...

Their first date is tomorrow night, so I am looking forward to giving you all the details then!

10 days later already.

Upon receiving Mark's scary emotional rapist email, Electra was not able to answer him until the next day, as she had night life to take care of. Naturally, Mark thought she would be sitting in front of meet.com all night and interpreted the lack of response as rejection. This actually made things easier for Electra, as it enabled her to let him go with a simple "thank you, and good bye". And so that was the end of Mark.

Billy is also slowly fading from Electra's life. Every now and then a text message appears on her mobile but I believe meeting him is no longer especially interesting. However, if he happened to be in town and Electra was bored, she would most likely let him entertain her for an hour or two.

The most exciting of the recent events involves good old (or young) Malcolm. As Mark turned out to be a slight freak, she found Malcolm to be very straightforward and trouble-free to be around. And so, she invited him over for tea one evening.
He was tall and calm and smelt like a man, and as these things happen, they ended up in bed. They just laid there holding each other, and it was exactly what Electra needed. Peter had been a great lay but he was no good at cuddling, which is sometimes just as important. Electra was momentarily unshaven and had no interest in any hands moving around, and so the night was perfect.

Wednesday, I got home in the middle of the night to find a man's shoes in the hallway and voices coming from Electra's room. As she had told me she was going to invite Malcolm over, I knew it would be him in there. About half an hour later, he left. And so I was updated on the events of the night the next day.
They had
1 - had The Talk
2 - had Sex

1: Electra had been wanting to have The Talk for a couple of weeks now. As she was the one who had broken things off the last time, she felt like he was more into her than she was into him and was worried he might get hurt. She wanted to clarify that her calling him and cuddling with him and trying to get laid when she was drunk, did not mean that they were dating. Surprisingly, his response to her urge to talk things over, was "Yes, I wouldn't want you to get hurt".
To this day, Electra is still baffled by the answer.

And so they agreed that they were just friends who were allowed to do whatever they want with each other. I would call it a classic example of Friends With Benefits but I am not sure how Electra sees it. But with these things sorted, they proceeded to
2: having Se… oops, over.

The drama. Oh the drama.

Electra went to have a glass of wine with Mark. Mark was friendly but conversation was slow, and he did not do much to make things better. Because of his mental scar, he did not know what to ask her or how to react to anything she said, and so there were some awkward moments every now and then. All in all, not a great date.
When they were saying good bye, he gave her too long a hug while rubbing her back and intimately whispering "mmmmh.... nice...."
Huge turn-off.

So this morning, she sent him an email she had been postponing since Friday. Saying how she was not feeling very well at the moment and she was coming up with something, and how, to be perfectly honest, she was kinda tired of the whole dating thing, and how she had been dating quite a few men lately and it was all getting a bit much lately.
His reply was yet again a bit too lengthy and elaborate, but the gist of it was quite terrible. It started out telling her he was the best guy in the world, he would give her all the time she needed, he was not one to be pushy, no pressure whatsoever.
Then, the second half took quite a different turn. He wanted her now. Now. He wanted to sit next to her in a dark movie theater, he wanted to feel her up and he wanted to make love to her. Make love, not have sex, make love. She would have to decide, he told her, what will it be, the one or the other.
Feeling utterly violated and about to vomit, Electra knew that this man would have to be eliminated from her life. She therefore decided to ignore the email and brush him off somewhat gently later tonight.
Mark, however, wanted to see her now, and wrote another email, offering to make her smile now. By now, Electra was feeling pretty disgusted by Mark, men and meet.com, so she left the computer and went to watch an episode of Mad Men, only to be interrupted seconds later by a text message from Mark. It said:

The last email. Yes or no.

Electra turned her phone off.
